The right training and partnerships lead to success

When you take the brave plunge to buy an investment property it can be a little overwhelming. If you then seek out a lettings agent to help ease that burden, you want to know that they are truly an expert in their field and up to date with every piece of legislation.

At Capital Estate Agents, we ensure our lettings team abide by the industry code of practice set by Propertymark. Propertymark combined a group of professional bodies who had worked hard to bring industry standards, regulations and a code of practice to the property industry. They amalgamated the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA), which had set ethical standards, particularly around the holding of client money, and The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA), which had set out a national Code of Practice covering key aspects of lettings such as insurance and protection to ensure peace of mind to clients.

Now, as it says on the Propertymark website:
By using a Propertymark Protected member you are guaranteed to be consulting with a professional who will give you up-to-date advice and guidance. Don’t suffer through dealing with agents who are inexperienced or in some cases do not adhere to the law’.

Capital’s lettings agents are required to follow the Propertymark programme of Continued Professional Development. Propertymark qualifications demonstrate that our team have studied residential letting and property management as well as deposit management.

In order to provide our whole team with access to additional learning that they can carry out flexibly and on an on-going basis, Capital Estate Agents signed up as members of Able Agent. We know that this will further add to the skills learnt from the Propertymark qualifications and, just as important, on-the-job training led by experienced members of the team.

The people that an agent partners with in their everyday business are vital to their success as a letting agent. Our team of trusted contractors, for example, are essential to the quality of the service we provide to landlords and tenants. Thanks to their skills and our project management we can complete repairs and maintenance on behalf of our landlords and tenants in a timely manner.

Our primary partners are of course our landlords with whom clear and effective communications are paramount in order to build a successful partnership that effectively manage their assets and protects their buy-to-let investment. It is a sign of a successful lettings agent/landlord partnership that our relationships usually last for several years and sometimes across generations of families.
